Resumen
PEREIRA ROCHE, Nayade et al. Evaluación de la capacidad protectora de la a-cristalina en el endotelio vascular. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2001, vol.20, n.1, pp. 24-29. ISSN 1561-3011.
The vascular endothelium is a vital organ for keeping the circulatory function; its dysfunction is associated with vascular diseases of high incidence. The search for agents that reverse or mitigate the effects of the oxidative damage on the endothelium is a high priority. H5V cell line was used to evaluate the damage caused by iPF2-III isoprostane, a product of the free-radical catalized peroxidation of arachidonic acid, and the alpha crystallin´s protective capacity to this attack. The survival of cell cultures was assessed through the MTT assay. There was reduced survival in cultures treated with iPF2-III isoprostane at concentrations higher than 300 nmol for 18 hrs of exposure. The therapy with alpha crystallin lowered the iPF2-III effect by 20%. This paper showed the effect of heat-shock proteins as endothelial protective agents
