Summary A literature review was made on the interrelation of medical ethics and prenatal diagnosis, and the assessment of such relation in Cuba because of the importance of this aspect for Embriology I subject in the medical studies. We inquired into the general and particular dilemma of prenatal diagnosis where willingness, accessibility, moral status of the fetus, abortion as a treatment and the participation or non-participation of the woman in such diagnosis are included. It was concluded that the core idea of bioethics is the respect for the human life, so it is important to analyze moral dilemmas that are emerging with the advances of medical genetics and the acquaintance with these problems by the Medicine students.
