Resumen
LEMES HERNANDEZ, Ciro Mario; RODRIGUEZ FERRADA, Carlos A y ACOSTA DE LA LUZ, Lérida. Estudios agrícolas en Melissa officinalis L. (toronjil): fecha de propagación y plantación. Rev Cubana Plant Med [online]. 2001, vol.6, n.3, pp. 93-97. ISSN 1028-4796.
A study was carried out to determine 2 agricultural fundamental parameters to cultivate Melissa officinalis L. (toronjil) in Cuba: The time of spread and planting. This lamiaceous plant is very well-known for its antispasmodic and stomachic properties. As for the time of spread, the authors assessed the percentage of rooting of stakes of terminal buds planted for 7 months in a row (from November to May) over 2 years. During the research on the planting time, yields of fresh plant matter in the harvest of 3 different months (January, February and March) were calculated. The results showed that the greatest percentage of rooting was obtained when stakes were planted from November to January. November was the optimal month, since it made possible to plant in January and to have 4 cuts of foliage with yields of 30 t/ha.
