BETANCOURT RODRIGUEZ, Yoel; HERRERA ISLA, Lidcay; ADAY DIAZ, Osmany  y  GARCIA DE LA FIGAL COSTALES, Armando. Biological properties of the soil and the incidence of illnesses to define the area of application of the on a heavy clay soil to define the application of the stripe tillage. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.2, pp. 27-30. ISSN 2071-0054.

An experiment was mounted in the areas of Sugar Cane Experimental Block on a heavy clay soil to define the application of the stripe tillage in the row or inter- row space of sugar cane, taking in to account the biological properties of the soil and the incidence of illnesses. Total population of bacterias, fungus, and actinomicetes, breathing activity, the incidence of Ceratocystis paradoxa and Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli were evaluated. It was found that: the population of bacterias and total actinomicetes showed significant differences in the sugarcane row regarding to the inter-row in 32•105 /g of soil and 5,2•104 /g of soil respectively; also the activity of the microorganisms of the row in 0,41 Meq of CO2/100 g of soil respect to the inter-row space. The population of total fungus in both studied areas and the incidences of Cerotocytos neither of Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli in the land preparation variants was not significant differences. From the point of view of the biological properties and the incidence of illnesses in the soil is possible to apply the stripe tillage in the cane row of this soil.

Palabras clave : Ceratocystis paradoxa; Leifsonia xyli subsp. Xyli; fungus; actinomicetes; microorganisms activity.
