Resumen

CARDENAS GIRAUDY, Aida Gabina et al. Migraine: study of the risk factors of the crises in children and adolescents. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2008, vol.80, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.

INTRODUCTION: Migraine is a disease of episodic course characterized by the presence of headache. In the management of migraine we should  consider the coexistence of endogenous special situations and of environment. The aim of this research was to identify the risk factors involved in the triggering of the crisis. METHODS: A retrospective and longitudinal study was conducted among children and adolescents  with migraine that were seen in the Neuropediatrics Service of “William Soler” Teaching Children Hospital from 2004 to 2006. RESULTS: In the analysis of the hereditary behaviour we had a total of 102 patients (85 %) with dominant autosomal inheritance, in whose transmission the maternal line played a significant role (60 cases; 57.55 %). A study of the environment was carried out, and it was observed  the participation of habitat  factors (46.16 %), as well as of pshychopathological comorbid factors (45 %) that triggered the crises (p = 0..000). CONCLUSIONS: Risk factors are  significant tools to determine the factors triggering the migraine crises.

Palabras clave : Migraine; habitat; risk factors.
