Introduction:
COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus of severe acute respiratory syndrome type 2, SARS-CoV-2, is associated, among multiple systemic conditions, with acute respiratory distress and there is an affectation of the development of cytokine storms, lead to complications of the respiratory system, but also this reaction compromises in several cases the cardiovascular part, with thrombi in the venous and arterial part, such as thrombosis, myocarditis, pericarditis, and complex and severe arrhythmias.
Objective:
To describe the cardiovascular damage detected in a patient as a sequela of COVID-19 and its evolution through echocardiography
Case presentation:
A 9-year-old male patient with a history of bronchial asthma attended the echocardiogram consultation with a history of having presented COVID-19 a month and a half ago. In "William Soler" Cardiocenter, an echocardiogram corresponding to post-covid children is performed, where moderate dilation of right cavities with severe tricuspid insufficiency is observed in this case; after a negative physical examination, it was ausculated a systolic murmur II / VI in the lower left sternal border.
Conclusions:
Early detection through echocardiogram of cardiovascular damage, moderate dilation of right cavities with severe tricuspid insufficiency, caused by post-infection to the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) in this case and timely treatment allows a satisfactory evolution of the patient.
