The purpose of the present study was to explore the trends of continuity, rupture and emergence in the cultural identity of young residents in Havana, with a special emphasis in the communicative subdimension, that is, in the cultural modes of communication. The results revealed that in the four indicators studied the vulgar contents predominated, whether by the language used, the signs made, as well as by a physical appearance and shameless or lustful dressing. Although references were made to behaviors with a tendency to the simple and educated, these were markedly scarce. In addition, elements of social inequalities appeared, based especially on economic acquisition. In conclusion, elements of continuity in the centrality of social and interpersonal relations were noticed, rupture in the contents that characterize them, with the emergence of kisses and buttocks touching among men as typicity in the greeting.
