BLANCO BALBEITO, Nubia; DOMINGUEZ HERNANDEZ, Ismenia  y  HERNANDEZ TREJO, Marina. Proceso de atención de enfermería en niños con glomerulonefritis difusa aguda. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2003, vol.19, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2961.

A retrospective explanatory study of the implementation of the nursing care process in children with acute diffuse glomerulonephritis admitted to "Martíres del 9 de Abril" hospital during 2000 was carried out to analyze the incidence of this disease as to sex and age groups; identify human needs and nursing diagnoses, to mention nursing actions performed on these patients as well as to examine hospital stay to make a comparison with the previous year 1999. The universe of study was patioents admitted during the year; the sample was selected through a non-probabilistic, opinion-based sampling and was finally composed of 14 patients. All the patients admitted to the general service were followed-up and administered a questionnaire for data collection. Human needs identified in 100% of cases were elimination, feeding and activity. Among the nursing diagnoses were excessive fluid volume related to compromised regulatory mechanisms, disorders of urinary discharge due to multiple causes, intolerance to activity in relation with rest at bed and nutritional disorders by deficit that has to do with food-eating capacity. Some indispensable nursing actions in the treatment of those children were mentioned. The hospital stay was reduced to 3 days in the year 2000.
