Resumen

HERRERA SANCHEZ, Rita  y  CASALS VILLA, Maura. Labor de enfermería en la toma de muestra para el análisis Copa Cónica. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.1, pp. 1-1. ISSN 1561-2961.

At present, the medical practice increasingly supports on the results of lab tests to precise over the diagnoses, treatments and recovery of the patients, so the quality of sample collection is determining to achieve this. To asses the efficacy of this activity, a cross-sectional descriptive research work was performed on nursing work in collecting fecal samples to carry out the repeated Conic Cup analyses indicated to patients admitted to hospital for suspicion or for evaluation of fasciolasis hepatica. Five nurses participated in the research work and it was made from January to July, 2002. As data collection instruments, we used a survey that was administered to selected nurses in addition to the medical histories of patients. All the surveys showed difficulties in collecting the required quantity of feces for this test, which coincided with the statements by the lab personnel. There was an increase of length of stay cost per patient that could be related to delays in sample collections due to an inadequate coordination among the involved staff. These results allowed improving the process of sample collection for Conic Cup analyses through the implementation of organizational changes that render assistance and economic advantages.
