A descriptive study was conducted among the individuals aged 17-60 that received medical attention at the type I family physician's office No. 14, in Cabaiguán. The sample was composed of 88 persons that accounted for 30 % of the total of the population. Our purpose was to assess the stress phenomenon as a risk factor for getting sick. Several research techniques were used to this end. The results found showed that 52.3 % had type A behavior and high anxiety levels, and that 61.4 % presented 6 or more manifestations of the lyfestyle leading to stress. All this proved the existance of vulnerability to stress.
