A descriptive, retrospective, and transversal study was made to describe behaviour of infant rate in Boyeros Municipality during last five years. Universe was composed by 68 deceased under 1 year during quinquennium 2000-2004 in Boyeros Municipality of Havana City. Authors analyzed infant mortality rate by years, by components, according death causes, and by weight groups. Data of medical records of deceased were collected, from epidemiological surveys on infant mortality rate, discussions related to deceased, statistical registry of Municipal Department of Statistics and were processed by means of SPSS statistical package. We found that infant mortality rate of our municipality was below of national and provincial rate, early neonatal component had 47 % of death total, major causes of death were congenital malformations (45.5 %) and infections (20.5 %), 41.17 % of deceased presented with low birth weight. Figure of births, deceased, and infant mortality rate show a lowering trend, early neonatal mortality had the greatest figure of deceased, and congenital malformations were the major cause of death.
