ROBAINA AGUIRRE, Caristina; AVILA ROQUE, Ibis y SEVILLA MARTINEZ, Déborah. A reflection on the notification of occupational lesions in Cuba. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
The main objective of this article was to make an analysis of the behavior of morbimortality from occupational accidents reported in Cuba from 1995 to 2004. Emphasis was given to the concept of lesion and not of accidents to stress the preventive character of this definition. Construction, industry, agriculture and transportation were some of the economic sectors with the highest rate of incidence and mortality in the studied period. Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus, in the centre of the country, and Las Tunas and Gramma, in the eastern region, were the provinces with the most elevated indicators at the national level. A critical analysis of the trend to the reduction of the incidence of the lesions in this period is made, although mortality had a different behavior.
