CRUZ HERNANDEZ, Jeddú; HERNANDEZ GARCIA, Pilar; YANES QUESADA, Marelis y ISLA VALDES, Ariana. Risk factors for preeclampsia: immunoendocrine approach. Part II. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
This second part of the review deals with the new risk factors for preeclampsia, which are also known as emergent, among which the biological phenomena of endocrine and immunological type and related to endothelial dysfunction, such as the increase of oxidative stress, the reduction of antioxidant vitamins and others, are included. It is said that these recently described risk factors will have to be taken into account in a near future to efficiently predict the appearance of preeclampsia to act early during the development of the disease and to prevent as much as possible its adverse obstetric consequences and, in some cases, to avoid the appearance of this disease.
