After characterizing from a conceptual point of view, the terms education, pedagogy, and pedagogic mastery, the essential components of pedagogic excellence within higher medical education are pointed out, as well as the indispensable requirements that the professor of Medical Sciences should meet in order to achieve this exceptional category in higher medical teaching.
