A reflexion is made on the need of taking into account the convictions as a fundamental aspect in the training of health professionals within a social context where human values are a compulsory thematic closely linked with medicine from facts such as the Project of the Human Genome and the expansion of the bioethic speech and the natural medicine. The linking of students with the polemic situation which exists in the field of medicine is proposed as a method to develop a critical and deep thought in relation to the idea of science at the service of the human being which may be a parameter to be taken into consideration for the improvement of the teaching process from the first years of the career of medicine.
