Resumen

AIM: To assessment Biostatistics impact on intellectual environment of graduates. METHODS: A retrospective and descriptive study was made. A model of personal interview was designed to this objective aimed to graduates. Its feature and content validation was submitted to expert criteria. Information from quantitative variables was summarized by means of yearly average by graduate, used to make a comparison before, during or after specialty in study group. To sum up qualitative variables percentage was used. RESULTS: It was found that 54 (94, 7%), 49 (86%), 51 (89,5%), and 40 (70,2%) of graduate thought that specialty influenced very much on its scientific level, on its ability to perform research projects, to communicate results achieved, and to teach, respectively. There was an increase in yearly average of research projects performed by graduate (0, 08 versus 0, 32), of attendance to scientific events (0, 90 versus 1, 40), and of publications (0, 22 versus 1, 03). Forty three graduates (76, 8%) had begun or performed some type of professional excelling after to study specialty. CONCLUSIONS: Specialty had impact on intellectual level of graduates.
