With the objective of designing a training course on HIV/aids prevention and management for basic health teams in Havana, a developmental and descriptive study was carried out from September to December, 2013. The final result was the design of a provincial postgraduate course aimed at basic health teams from Havana province, which will cover four topics: epidemiological surveillance, prevention and health promotion in STI/HIV/aids, formation of health promoters and comprehensive care of HIV/aids people. It was concluded that this type of course as an organizational form of professional upgrading, according to expert criteria, contributes to the preparation of professionals on this topic in order to take diagnosis, prevention, and health promotion actions and to provide community-wide comprehensive medical care to HIV/aids infection.
