Resumen

CHAVEZ VEGA, Raúl; VALCARCEL IZQUIERDO, Norberto  y  MEDINA GONZALEZ, Inarvis. The need for carrying out research in the field of medical education didactics. Educ Med Super [online]. 2021, vol.35, n.1  Epub 01-Abr-2021. ISSN 1561-2902.

Introduction:

Research in the field of didactics is of utmost importance for society due to its close relationship with the training of human beings. In medical education, several didactic currents have arisen as they are aimed at optimizing the training of students and satisfying the demands of society as part of the health system, not infrequently without having a scientific confirmation, in our setting, of the supposed benefits that support them.

Objective:

To determine the need for research in the didactics of medical education.

Methods:

The literature referring to the historical development of didactics and the different currents in which the teaching-learning process in medical education has been sustained from the last century to the present was reviewed. Forty-one national and international articles written in Spanish and English were selected, from the 75 articles compiled. Through the analysis of the literature examined, the predominant didactic strategies in medical education were characterized, with a focus on its emergence to the present date.

Conclusions:

It is urgent to carry out research in the field of didactics of medical education, which provides a theoretical basis for making scientifically supported decisions about educational policies that should guide the optimal training of medical science students.
