Resumen

La Economía y la Salud Pública en Cuba en la década de 1950. Rev Cubana Salud Pública [online]. 2000, vol.26, n.2, pp. 134-140. ISSN 1561-3127.

The economic and public health situation in Cuba in the 50's are described as a continuation of a aprevious paper dealing with these aspects in the 40's. A group of papers presented by outstanding economists which revealed the instability of the economy of the country and the very bad situation of the Cuban families at that time are mentioned. Also, a group of institutions and health campaigns to which extraordinary credits were granted, for example, the funds given for fighting tuberculosis and the emblezzlement of such resources which were kept by individuals are pointed out. Reference is made to the medical crisis and its causes.
