ORTEGA ACACIO, Ana Beatriz y PEROZO YNESTROZA, Miguel Ángel. Regionalization of area reduction factors in a watershed of Falcón state in Venezuela. RIHA [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.2, pp. 94-106. ISSN 1680-0338.
For Coro river basin (600, 369 km2) relationships Height-Area-Duration (DAH) were constructed and from them the regional model of the area reduction factor (ARF) which varies between 0,43 and 0,63 for storm durations from 3 to 24 hours. The results show marked differences between the magnitudes of (ARF) estimated with a general model and with the regionalized one, also with respect to values estimated in other regions, demonstrating that the (ARF) values are regional. The estimation of design rainfall from the (ARF), with the regionalized model, evidences that the use of this methodology reduces by more than 43% the magnitude of such events.
