The professor that is in charge of training the future health professionals, in his/her initial formation, lacks training for carrying out the teaching-educative function. For that reason, the authors wanted to reflect on the health professional training. To carry out this task, a professor’s staff of excellence is needed, because they are the ones who answer for the new professionals´ training; excellence in the teaching, health care and research level. The medical university has tools directed to the fulfillment of the teaching performance from the curricular dimension, on the basis of the graduate’s general objectives, but this depends on the professional’s training quality, his/her pedagogical and didactic training, and also on the motivation and dedication they may show in their professional performance.
