In spite of the development, in different latitudes, of the practice of medical ethics during the second half of the last century, there is still a lot to do in relation to the patient that suffers from a psychiatric dysfunction. Regardless of the fact that better conditions have been created for the attention of psychiatric patients, and that in many countries, the admission system of hospitals has been humanized, it becomes mandatory the revision of situations of psychiatric urgency such as patients ' admission, transfer and poor compliance, as well as the use of the informed consent in these and other situations. The present article revises these topics, making stress in the practice of Psychiatry in Cuba nowadays, and referring to the Cuban Bill of Mental Health, with its concepts of severe mental dysfunction and dangerousness
