Resumen

CORONA MARTINEZ, Luís  y  FONSECA HERNANDEZ, Mercedes. Diagnostic Reasoning in the Clinical Method. Comparison and other Mental Processes as Tools for Clinical Judgments. Medisur [online]. 2012, vol.10, n.1, pp. 39-46. ISSN 1727-897X.

Obtaining clinical information and interpreting that information are two important and closely related moments in the process of delivering medical attention: interpreting clinical information means to use thinking processes in order to get a diagnosis. This article is dedicated to the mental processes involved in reasoning or clinical judgement including comparison as one of them. We support comparison as the ideal thinking process for learning how to develop diagnostic hypotheses, mostly in the context of inexperienced medicine students. Main ideas have been summarized in some rules that every student should consider when learning the diagnostic process carried out through comparison.

Palabras clave : clinical diagnosis; mental processes; information.
