Resumen

It is carried out a revision of the topic of the feeding and the 60 year-old grown-ups' nutrition, to upgrade it. The factors are described that influence in the nutritional state of the old men, the factors of risk for the malnutrition, the changes physiologic present in the digestive, breathing, renal, nervous subsystems, and dysfunctions in the sensorial organs. The psychological changes are also approached that happen in this stage of the life, the obesity, the factors of risk for the chronic illnesses not transferable, the nutritional recommendations according to the sex, the acceptable ranges of macronutrientes for healthy diets according to the percent of the daily ingestion of energy. Emphasis is made in the prevention of chronic illnesses, those that are among the first causes of death in our country, like they are the cardiovascular illnesses, the cancer and the cerebrovascular illnesses. It is insisted in the necessity of gradual changes in the population's lifestyles through the nutritional education that takes to the healthy feeding and the practice of systematic physical exercises, to reach the longevity with quality of appropriate life.
