Taking advantage of the fiftieth anniversary of Alison Smithson’s book Team 10 Primer, this paper discusses the characterization of the concept ‘human dimension of architecture’. In essence, the human dimension means the way in which architecture consciously takes into account future interaction with its users, with the clear goal of developing designs aimed at improving their lives. The discussion of the matter is mainly delimited in the period of modern architecture, and more specifically concerns the context of those revolutionary young architects of the third generation of the Modern Movement (Team 10) who certified the death of the all-powerful CIAM, being the theoretical discourse of the group the main topic of study. To argue this issue the paper includes original material from Aldo van Eyck and Alison Smithson. Finally, the discourse of the Finish architect Juhani Pallasmaa is taken into account to reflect on contemporary architectural scene.
