Resumen

DELGADO VERGARA, Teresa  y  PEREIRA PEREZ, Joanna. Aging: a demographic phenomenon with legal repercussions. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.26, pp. 24-39. ISSN 1817-4078.

In the present article, an approach is made around aging and old age, with an emphasis on its legal edge. As a starting point, conceptual precisions are made around vulnerability, disability and dependence, to later link those concepts with that of old age. It explains the principles that should inform the protection of dependents and their normative projection in Cuba. The study is complemented by the analysis of measures to ensure these rights, specifically public measures and social policies. Finally, the private measures emanating from the exercise of the autonomy of the will of the elderly are critically exposed and analyzed, as well as their possible implementation in the face of the aging of the population in Cuba.

Palabras clave : Aging; old age; legal protection; right of self-protection; autonomy of the will.
