GRINAN BERGARA, Dianné y MUNOZ GUTIERREZ, Teresa. Studies of work in Cuba. A theoretical-methodological systematization. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2017, vol.13, n.26, pp. 69-84. ISSN 1817-4078.
Work in Cuba is a central issue in the social and academic order. This article presents a socio historical and theoretical methodological journey through the process of institutionalization of social studies about work in Cuba as a scientific field in the period 1959-2010. Starting from a broad conception of social studies about work as a theoretical foundation, and from Pierre Bourdieu's field theory as a methodological foundation, a sociological self-diagnosis is presented from the perspective of the Sociology of Knowledge. The research results allow affirming that during the 60s the thought produced in the field was characterized by a wide range of themes that responded to the historical needs of the construction of a new society. In the decade of the 70s, when the institutionalization and training for research began, a thematic change took place from the theoretical and methodological influences of the socialist countries, due to the insertion of Cuba in the CAME. In the 1980s, other steps were taken in the institutionalization of the field of social studies about work, which, together with the demands of socio-economic problems, allowed the development of thought by the end of the decade. From 1990 onwards is the period of consolidation of institutionalization. Soviet categories and methods begin to be abandoned, new themes appear, new methods of study are used, and elements of conflict and change in discourse are introduced.
