CRISTIA LARA, Sahilí y GODEFOY NUNEZ, Elizabeth. Reflections on the relationship population-vulnerability in the Municipality Guamá, Santiago de Cuba. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2020, vol.16, n.31, pp. 31-40. Epub 30-Sep-2020. ISSN 1817-4078.
The study uses a demographic analysis of the data published by the National Office of Statistic and Information (ONEI, from its abbreviation in Spanish) to assess the vulnerability degree of the inhabitants of the Guamá municipality located in the Santiago de Cuba province. We identify this municipality area as highly vulnerable due to its geographic location, by using a Risk, Vulnerability and Danger study approach, as well as, taking in consideration the Objectives for the Sustainable Development criteria. Specially, we point out the vulnerability of its population segment aged over 60 years old. Additionally, we offer elements to be considered when taking decisions that aim to the inclusive and sustainable development of the municipality. We believe future studies should be carried out systematically and include both, qualitative and quantitative assessments, as well as, an inter-trans and multidisciplinary approach in order to comprehensively describe and understand the reality of the municipality.
