Malignant and benign neoplasms of salivary glands are found in the major salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, sublingual), as well as countless minor salivary glands located throughout the mucosa of the mouth. These malignancies result in a wide variety of malignant and benign tumors. Between 65 and 85 % originating from the parotid and approximately 15 % are malignant. Our research included all cases with biopsy study of salivary gland tumors in a period of three years to determine the incidence of these tumors in our environment and histopathological varieties; morbidity accounted for 50 % and were mostly benign type, nine of them were found to be pleomorphic adenoma; the other 50 % were sialoadenitis.
Palabras clave : salivary gland tumors; Sjögren's syndrome; sialoadenitis.
