CARDENAS-FERRER, Teresa Margarita et al. Methodological Proposal for the Urban Solid Waste Management System in Villa Clara. RTQ [online]. 2019, vol.39, n.2, pp. 471-488. ISSN 2224-6185.
ABSTRACT
In recent years, as the society it develops and transformed with countless scientific- technical advances, the volumes of solid waste urban waste (MSW) have increased considerably. In most of the developing countries in Latin America and Caribbean, there is no public awareness for the management of this waste or practical, economic and viable solutions that do not affect the health of the population and the environment.
The province of Villa Clara presents the same world and national reality, so the objective of this work is aimed at developing a methodology to minimize the inadequate management of Urban Solid Waste, coordinating all system processes and streamlining its performance. The guide includes general aspects to be considered throughout in the process and its specific stages. It is was validated and applied in the city of Santa Clara, where it is was possible to characterize the city's current generation system, as well as the implementation of the methodology that includes collection, storage, transport, treatment and final disposal, it was necessary to design a new route for the collection and transportation of solid waste.
