Resumen

GUTIERREZ GAITEN, Yamilet Irene et al. Evaluación farmacognóstica y fitoquímica preliminar de hyllanthus rbicularis HBK. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2000, vol.34, n.1, pp. 56-62. ISSN 1561-2988.

We performed a preliminary pharmacognosic and phytochemical study of Phyllanthus orbicularis HBK where the macro- and micromorphologic features of stems and leaves of this plant were inicially determined. We standardized the raw drug whose average values were tithin the allowable range if compared to those of the official drugs. Through phytochemical sieving tests, we determined the general chemical composition of this drug in which the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, coumarins, saponins, aminoacids, anthocyanidins, mucilages, triterpenes and or steroids, reducing substances, pyrocathecolic tannins, bitter and astringent principle, glycosides and quinones. Also some of these metabolites were quantified. Finally, we carried out the extraction and fractioning of flavonoids into very simple fractions having these compounds. Also rutine and quercentin were detected together with two chromatographically pure compounds which, according to the tests applied, are suspected to be flavonoids.
