Resumen

LEON RODRIGUEZ, Rafael; SANTANA PORBEN, Sergio; COLLAZO HERRERA, Manuel  y  BARRETO PENIE, Jesús. Costo-efectividad de intervenciones alimentario-nutrimentales vs. hospitalización en pacientes colorrectales. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2003, vol.37, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2988.

The results obtained from the cost-effectiveness study conducted in 2 food-nutritional intervention schemes (traditional and alternative) used in electively selected patients that underwent colon radical surgery at "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Clinical and Surgical Hospital are shown. This health intervention is compared with hospitalization, that is, the length of hospital stay plus the surgical procedures performed. It was proved that with the money spent in a food-nutritional support and the use of a residue-poor diet, supplements of ovo-albumin and an enteral nutrient without fiber (fresubion) in the alternative conduct, it was achieved an effectiveness of 100 % cases with no death, a saving of $5 323.22 in the studied cases and an efficiency of $2 453.53/non dying case, which represents greater health benefits with the use of less health resources.
