Pulmonary eosinophilia includes a very varied group of entities that share the presence of pulmonary infiltrates and an increase of the number of eosinophils in peripheral blood or pulmonary tissue at any moment of its evolution. In these entities, the presence of eosinophils is fundamental and may be a very useful marker for diagnosis, eventhough they may be characterized by the presence of other inflammatory cells that will also be responsible for pulmonary injury. Taking into account that this entity is not well known by phsycians or pneumologists in our country and that some cases may appear occasionally at the outpatient departments and services of internal medicine at the different health care levels, some aspects of the topic connected with the classification, diagnosis and the general clinical elements of specific affections included in that term were reviewed
