Resumen
LOSADA GARCIA, Marcia. Requiem for a Wrong Hermeneutics in the novel The Lost Steps. UH [online]. 2018, n.285, pp. 120-141. ISSN 0253-9276.
This paper is aimed at linguistically reconstructing the mind of the unnamed protagonist of the novel The Lost Steps by Alejo Carpentier by means of a three -dimensional analysis of meaning to show a vital experience- related contrast between the impact of the hard environment of the jungle and the mental universe of the newcomer. This can be seen as either the intent of the plot, or behavioral paradigms of the protagonist-narrator in his world of wrong readings of the context for his insertion. It is given an example of how semantic features emerged from the contradiction between mythicizing and resemantization permit access to the protagonist's mind, and allow semiotic and cognitive thinking to be shown, which leads him to a wrong decoding of cultural signs.
