The development of the city of Havana has been influenced for almost two centuries by tourism. Within this sector, hotel architecture has presented particularities in the different historical stages. This article seeks to identify the essential aspects that have marked its evolution in Havana with illustrations of distinctive buildings of each period. It is a theoretical research of historical character based on a qualitative methodological approach, the information gathered in previous works and the personal experience of the authors. It identifies the fundamental stages in the evolution of the hotel typology in Havana, the main events that have conditioned the boom of tourism in the capital and verifies that the evolution has responded to international trends and has been conditioned by the urban context.
