Evaluation and accreditation are mechanisms that help to promote the improvement of institutions and programs, so that they have information and maintain a close follow-up of objectives, indicators and proposed goals, therefore, it constitutes today a challenge in our higher education institutions. The research work is carried out with the application of different research methods and tools, with emphasis on bibliographic and documentary review, in the search for and understanding of the object of study. The characterization of the evolution of accreditation is articulated to a set of definitions, indicators and procedures for the evaluation of quality that generates a group of regularities and trends, which positions and orients the short, medium and long term performance in our institutions and programs and at the same time becomes the main objective of the work.
