Resumen
PILOTO DIAZ, Ibraín et al. Surgical correction of hypermetropia with continuous circular suture. Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2001, vol.14, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3070.
Approximately 4 % of the world population suffer from hypermetropia and different refractive surgical techniques, as the hexagonal keratotomy, have been used for its correction. After reviewing the report of the continuous circular suture technique for the correction of hypermetropies and looking for alternatives to improve the quality of life of our patients, we decided to carry out this study comparing both techniques. 9 patients were studied in all. The continuous circular suture method was applied to the left eye and hexagonal keratotomy to the right eye. The results were analyzed six months later. The right eye showed significant changes in the sphere, central keratometry and visual acuity without crystals. Refractive changes and of visual acuity occurred in the left eye, but central keratometry did not suffer the expected variation. Therefore, we supposed that the refractive changes are due to subjective factors. For this reason, we do not suggest the above-mentioned technique.
