Introduction:
depression is a disorder characterized by a persistent decrease in mood, negative thoughts and, in some cases, somatic symptoms.
Objective:
to determine the factors that influence adherence to treatment in patients diagnosed with depression.
Method:
a prospective observational analytical study was carried out, corresponding to a study of drug use (Therapeutic Scheme), in 33 patients diagnosed with episode of Major Recurrent Depression, at the polyclinic March 13, Bayamo municipality, in the period between January to December 2017. The data of the investigation were obtained in a collection form, which was completed by medical interview. The Chi-square test was used.
Results:
sex, age, residence, level of education, occupation, economic resources, level of knowledge of the disease, complexity of treatment, adverse drug reactions, cost of treatment, guidance from the doctor to the patient, follow-up and relationship patient physician, influenced adherence to treatment but not statistically significant.
Conclusions:
compliance with non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment were the statistically significant factors associated with adherence to treatment in patients with depression.
