MEDINA ARTILES, Aymeé; BOTELLO RAMIREZ, Emilia Antonia y FIMIA DUARTE, Rigoberto. Foot self-care in diabetic patients. Medicentro Electrónica [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.4, pp. 819-825. Epub 01-Oct-2020. ISSN 1029-3043.
A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in order to characterize the epidemiological variables and foot self-care in diabetic patients aged 50-70 years belonging to the 22 and 23 doctor's offices of the Basic Work Group # 2 at ‟ Marta Abreu de Estévez” University Teaching Polyclinic in Santa Clara, from February to March 2018. The study population was 152 patients and the sample consisted of 45 patients. APD-UMA self-care survey was applied to reveal information on the epidemiological aspects (age, gender, education), and foot self-care was measured through two dimensions (level of information on this issue and habits of the patients). Female gender, age group of 61-70 years, and poor foot self-care (due to poor information and habits of the patients) predominated.
