This work examines how Information and Communication Technologies have changed accountant job previously focused on collecting accounting information. Accounting software is based on integrating accounting functions and pieces of information, so that accountants are allowed, and at the same time required to focus on internal control as the only effective way of guarantying the quality of financial and accounting information they manage, and on economic and financial analysis of results processed by computers. One of the advantages of such software is to automate journal entries, which frees accountants from creating and posting journals manually. Accountant job will undergo more revolutionary changes in the next few decades due to advances in technology such as artificial intelligence and big data. A very intensive training to accountants will be needed.
