The debate about the philosophic condition of Marxism began to finish the century xix and continuous to This article has the purpose of evaluating the contribution of labor cooperatives to employment in Cuba, based on official statistics and interviews with cooperative members and experts. The negative trend that employment in these cooperatives has had is analyzed and the main factors that have affected this behavior are stated. It is concluded that in Cuba the work cooperatives have demonstrated their resilience in the face of crises and have guaranteed decent and safe employment to their members. However, the presence of women and young people among its members is low, which makes a clear and precise promotion and promotion strategy essential, where these groups are prioritized. It is also concluded that their representation within the productive and service actors of the Cuban economic model should be increased, by operating under common general rules and under equal conditions to protect cooperative autonomy.
