Introduction:
Low back pain or also known as sacrolumbalgia or lumbago, could be defined as a painful and persistent sensation in the lower back area from the last ribs to the gluteal area. The action of puncturing Bladder 40 with a 3-edged needle and suctioning with a plastic suction cup is an easy to perform, inexpensive technique, and its indication and studies are poorly documented.
Objective:
To describe the therapeutic response of the use of suction cup with bleeding at the Bladder 40 point in the treatment of acute low back pain.
Methods:
A pre-experimental study was carried out in the Department of Natural and Traditional Medicine (MNT, Medicina Natural y Tradicional) of the “Arnaldo Milián Castro” University Clinical Surgical Provincial Hospital in Villa Clara, from September 2019 to September 2022 in patients referred by the Orthopedic service with the diagnosis of acute low back pain.
Results:
The age groups from 40 to 49 and from 50 to 59 years and the male sex predominated, as etiology Bu Nei Wei Yin were more frequent and within these: intense physical activity, a moderate decrease in pain was obtained to light and a good therapeutic response.
Conclusions:
The therapeutic response of cupping bleeding at the Bladder 40 point for the treatment of low back pain was good for patients whose triggering etiological factor was intense physical activity.
