El Atlas Linguístico de Cuba (The Linguistic Atlas of Cuba, ALCu, according to its abbreviation in Spanish) was finished in December, 2013, 27 years after it was started, and as a result of two research projects undertaken at Instituto de Literatura y Lingüística "José Antonio Portuondo y Valdor" (Institute of Literature and Linguistics "José Antonio Portuondo y Valdor". The first one, called "Geo-Linguistic Characterization of Cuban Spanish", was conducted from 1986 to 1996, and the second one, "Development of The Linguistic Atlas of Cuba (ALCu)", from 2009 to 2013. This five-volume Atlas in DVD format is an enormous work already done that has plenty of valuable information on linguistic similarities and differences in Cuban Spanish.
