A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 60 patients with clinical manifestations of recurrent aphthous stomatitis, assisted in the Stomatological Department of "Carlos J Finlay" Polyclinic, Songo-La Maya Municipality in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from November, 2007 to July, 2009. Among the analyzed variables there were: age groups, localization, local and general factors. The female sex (63.3%), the age group 15-34, the pain (100.0%) and the lips as the place of greater localization of the disease prevailed in the series. Among the causes trauma and changes due to stress prevailed. It was recommended to make studies in different populations to carry out the health promotion and prevention of this morbid pattern.
