Resumen

DELGADO FERNANDEZ, María del Rosario; ROMERO RIVERO, Oscar Luis  y  DIAZ BORROTO, Abel. Central insipid diabetes: presentation of a case. Rev. Med. Electrón. [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.1, pp. 45-51. ISSN 1684-1824.

The central insipid diabetes is an entity characterized by the incapacity of concentrating urine secondary to a total or partial deficiency in the dehydrogenase alcohol release. There several causes; in pediatrics, the tumors of hypothalamic hypophyseal region, and also the histiocytosis count for most of the cases of the clinical practice. The disease onset is abrupt. Polyuria and polydipsia are the predominant clinical expression in answer to the patient incapacity of maintaining the hydric balance. It is necessary to make a balance of inputs and outputs and also to determine the urinary density for arriving to the disease diagnosis. When there is an established diagnose, complementary studies should be made to determine the etiology.  The treatment of the insipid diabetes is aimed to avoid the polyuria, for what demopresine is used. The purpose of our work was demonstrating the clinical characteristics of a patient diagnosed with insipid diabetes and treated at the Endocrinology service of the Teaching Provincial Pediatric Hospital Eliseo Noel Caamaño, in 2010.
