Egg Diameter for Volume and Surface Area Calculation and their Correlation with other External and Internal Characters in Three-Purpose Breeding Chickens. Rev. prod. anim. [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.2-3, pp. 33-38. ISSN 2224-7920.
With the aim of using the diameters of the egg for the calculation of the volume and surface and their correlation with other external characters in hens reproducer was carried out an experiment totally at random with a design in the three purposes in exploitation. They took 7 102 eggs distributed in slight reproducer 3 554, heavy reproducer 1 011 and turquois 2 537 to the ages of 2-3; 7-8 and 10-11 months of setting, respectively. Values were obtained for calculation of the volume (Kw) between 0,531 and 0,527 for heavy and turquois, the surface calculation (Ks) it oscillated respectively between 2,885 and 2,866 for heavy and slight reproducer volumes were obtained from 52,46 to 57,11 for the heavy reproducer and turquois respectively, the surface fluctuated between 64,23 and 71,71 , the indexes of yolk, white and units Haugh showed significant differences (P < 0,05) for the three purposes influenced by the time of storage of the eggs before the incubation. The obtained results demonstrate that the eggs studied in the three purposes of hens reproducer present, in a general way, satisfactory internal and external characteristics that guarantee the efficiency of the incubation.
