ORTIZ SABLON, Juan Carlos et al. Approach to pathogenesis of COVID-19 according to virus-host interaction. ccm [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.3, pp. 990-1012. Epub 01-Sep-2020. ISSN 1560-4381.
More than 100 years after the 1918 influenza outbreak, humanity is once again facing a pandemic, which has spread to all continents and has forced us to understand it and learn to live with it. SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus, that causes COVID-19, has peculiar characteristics from the epidemiological and clinical points of view, which motivated us to search the bases of virus-host interaction for an understanding of a probable pathogenic evolution that corresponds to the current knowledge of the disease; in this mini review of the topic we try to integrate aspects of the biological basis of virus disease, the current theory of pathogenesis, some essential aspects of virology, immunological basis and the most used diagnostic tests.
