Achieving optimal business performance requires market research on the competition, clients and the context, being the objective of the present article to present the relevant theoretical references on market research from the perspective of the factoring contract. The research is of a qualitative type, with a legal approach to the subject, although it also ventures into its economic dimension, based on the review of documents, the results of which reveal that the market research on the occasion of factoring becomes an obligation aimed at inquiring into the financial reality of the debtor, in addition to favoring other services. It´s concluded that the market research acquires a new meaning in factoring, being useful the credit scoring method to evaluate the risks of non-payment of debts.
