Authors made a analysis of current situation and the development perspectives of laparoscopic surgery in Cuba from the experience obtained in a general surgery department. Laparoscopy had a positive effect in surgical activity, as well as the organizing, methodological difficulties and in the training of specialists and residents that nowadays remain and stop the development of the specialty.
