DIAZ ALONSO, Guillermo y RAMIREZ FERNANDEZ, Rolando. Women and HIV infection. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 1996, vol.22, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3062.
AIDS has become one of the most serious health problems for women. Only in 1994 1 000 000 of them were infected, which led us to make a review of the topic with the aim of gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing the literature available during the last five years selected from the Medline and Current Contents data bases. Some of the aspects approached were; epidemiology, risk factors, clinical manifestations, and infection during pregnancy. It is concluded that women have become the most vulnerable group and that only by improving their living conditions and allowing them to have access to education the transmission of the disease will be reduced.
